Cindy Stephens has a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Spanish along with a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education with a minor in English as a Second Language. She has experience teaching all levels of students from the very young to college level adult classes. For over 20 years, she and her husband, J., have homeschooled their nine children with six graduating from Stephens Christian Academy. In her most recent teaching position, Cindy prepared international students to communicate so that they can successfully use English in a college setting at Grayson College in Denison, Texas. Her passions are relationships and learning; she loves to see the lightbulb of understanding switch on when a student who has been struggling finally understands a concept clearly.
Course Title: Middle School Composition, High School Composition, High School Literature
Karen Love has a B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Mathematics from Texas A&M Commerce. She is certified in Texas to teach 6-12th grade Mathematics in addition to training and certification as a K-12 Special Education teacher. She has taught in the public school system for over 15 years with her last position being a Math teacher at Dowell Middle School in McKinney.
Course Title: Algebra I, Pre-Algebra, 7/8th Math, Brain Training
Liesl is married to John Triplett and they have a son and three daughters together. They live in Anna and attend church at First Baptist Church in Melissa. While attending the University of North Texas, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with a Kindergarten Endorsement, and a Master of Education degree.
Through the years, Liesl has worn many hats. She has taught public Kindergarten for the Frisco ISD, preschool in Mother’s Day Out programs, served as Preschool Director at a church, operated an in-home daycare, and held various positions in her homeschool co-op. Currently, Liesl home-schools her daughters, teaches sewing classes, and is a seamstress at an upholstery shop in Van Alstyne.
Course Title: Kindergarten through 5th grade
Janet Schaab has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. in Technology and Policy from M.I.T. Before homeschooling, she worked at Texas Instruments as a manufacturing engineer. She has homeschooled for over 20 years and taught numerous Enrichment Classes, mostly in science and history. Over the last six years, she has taught Apologia Physical Science, Chemistry, & Physics; plus World History/Geography at QUEST High School Co-op. Students who have taken these classes have gone on to do well in American History and sciences at Grayson College.
Course Title: Chemistry
Robin McCoy earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Austin College and her Master’s from the University of North Texas. She gained entrepreneurial experience by opening the first Mexican Food Restaurant in Aberdeen, Scotland. Upon returning to the United States, she became director for a federal agency for four years before joining the staff of a State Senator as Eastern District Coordinator for 15 years. Over the last ten years, she has taught financial classes for Grayson County as well as Personal Finance Classes for Texoma Christian School and QUEST High School Co-op.

Amy Yates has a degree in English with a minor in History from the University of Arkansas. Since graduation, she has worked at TI in the technology industry and, most recently, she has been homeschooling their son and daughter for the last five years. She plans to familiarize the students with the history of the world so that they have a better comprehension of currents events and how countries are interrelated historically, politically, and culturally.
Course Title: High School World History, 7th Grade General Science, Middle School History, Middle School Science
Valerie Pollock has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and many years of experience in training and teaching. She has been teaching all levels of students from pre-school to adults in both academic and artistic subjects from college – preparatory math and science to one-stroke painting. She describes herself as a natural teacher; instructing dance in 6th grade, arts and crafts since high school, Team Training during her years with Rockwell International, Cub Scout Achievements and Boy Scout Merit Badges for NeTseO Trails Council, Sunday School classes from pre-school through 8th grade, everything from pre-school to High School Biology and Chemistry at Enrichment Classes, painting and knitting at the Creative Arts Center in Bonham, and generally anyone who dares to ask a question! In addition to the above-listed activities, three sons have kept her busy home-schooling for the past seventeen years. Her most recent teaching assignment has been instructing developmental Algebra at Grayson College since summer 2015 and instructing Junior High and High School math and science courses here at KCA. There is an indescribable joy in witnessing the “Aha!” moments in a student’s career – that is the drive behind this teacher.
