Liesl Triplett is married to John Triplett, and together they have a son and three daughters.

They live in Anna and attend church at First Baptist Church in Melissa. While attending the

University of North Texas, she earned a Bachelor of Science in education with a

Kindergarten Endorsement, and a Master of Education degree. Through the years, Liesl has

worn many hats. She has taught public Kindergarten for  Frisco ISD, preschool in

“Mother’s Day Out” programs, served as Preschool Director at a church, operated an in-home

daycare, and held various positions in her homeschool co-op. Currently, Liesl home-schools her

daughters, teaches sewing classes, and is a seamstress at an upholstery shop in Van Alstyne.

Amy Yates has a degree in English with a minor in history from the University of Arkansas.

Since graduation, she has worked at Texas Instruments in the technology industry and,

most recently, she has been homeschooling her son and daughter for the last five years.

She plans to familiarize the students with world history so that they have a better

comprehension of current events and how countries are interrelated geographically,

politically, and culturally.

Bre'Ana Whiting has her degree in Child Development and is Texas certified in SPED and ESL, with a Masters in Christian Arts Ministry from Liberty University. She has worked in education for 4 years, having the opportunity to teach 1st grade, as well as work with ages Kindergarten-5th grade. Bre'Ana enjoys teaching students and seeing their development over time. She also loves being able to have fun with her students.
In her spare time, Bre'Ana enjoys participating in music-inspired events, helping out in the Children's Ministry at her church, and spending time with her family. She's married to DeeJay Whiting, the KCA Bible Teacher, and they have a daughter named Addison.


Valerie Pollock has a Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering and many

years of experience in training and teaching. She has been teaching all levels of

students from preschool to adults in both academic and artistic subjects from

college-preparatory math and science to one-stroke painting. She describes

herself as a natural teacher; instructing dance in 6th grade, arts and crafts

since high school, Team Training during her years with Rockwell International,

Cub Scout achievements and Boy Scout merit badges for NeTseO Trails Council,

Sunday school classes from preschool through 8th grade, everything from

preschool to high school biology and chemistry at Enrichment Classes, painting and

knitting at the Creative Arts Center in Bonham, and generally anyone who dares to

ask a question! In addition to the above-listed activities, three sons have kept her

busy homeschooling for the past 17 years. Her most recent teaching assignment

has been instructing developmental algebra at Grayson College since summer 2015

and instructing junior high and high school math and science courses at KCA.

There is an indescribable joy in witnessing the “Aha!” moments in a student’s career –

that is the drive behind this teacher.


Karen Love has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a minor in

Mathematics from Texas A&M Commerce. She is certified in Texas to teach

6-12th grade Mathematics, has her certification as a K-12th grade Special Education

teacher and is certified as Head of School. She has taught in the public school system

for over 15 years. Her last position was at Dowell Middle School in McKinney, where

she coached and taught 6th, 7th, and  8th grade Pre-AP Algebra and Geometry. Her

passion is engaging students and providing a fundamental understanding of Math and

its importance in life. Mrs. Love uses rich academic language that widens vocabulary,

which enables her students to excel in any Math course. Even though Mrs. Love enjoys

teaching Math, her real passion lies in building relationships with her students. Her humor

and experience with students provides an enjoyable atmosphere with high academic

expectations. One student had this to say about Mrs. Love: "She's no push over but

we know deep down that she loves us and we want to learn everything!  She makes

it fun!  I never thought I would say, ‘I can't wait to get to Math class!’"​​​

Janet Schaab has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.S. in Technology and Policy from M.I.T.  Before homeschooling, she worked at Texas Instruments as a manufacturing engineer.  She has homeschooled for over 20 years and taught numerous Enrichment Classes, mostly in science and history. Over the last six years, she has taught Apologia Physical Science, Chemistry, & Physics; plus World History/Geography at QUEST High School Co-op. Students who have taken these classes have gone on to do well in American History and sciences at Grayson College.


Rebecca Seevershas a degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in Library and

Information Science. She has worked with both elementary and secondary grade levels

in public education and recently retired after twenty-four years, the last fourteen of which

were with Van Alstyne ISD. She and her husband have called Van Alstyne home for twenty-

three years. They have two grown sons and six grandchildren. Mrs. Seevers home schooled

her two sons through high school.  Working with children as they begin to blossom intellectually,

socially, and spiritually, is a joy and Mrs. Seevers is delighted to begin working with the students

and staff of KCA.


~On Sabbatical

Robin McCoy earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Austin College and her Master’s from the

University of North Texas. She gained entrepreneurial experience by opening the first Mexican

food restaurant in Aberdeen, Scotland. Upon returning to the United States, she became the

director of a federal agency for 4 years before serving as Eastern District Coordinator

of a State Senator for 15 years.  Over the last 10 years, she has taught financial classes for

Grayson County, as well as Personal Finance Classes for Texoma Christian School

and QUEST High School Co-op.

DeeJay Whiting is currently studying at Texas Women’s University for a degree in

general studies, concentrating in business and history, with an expected graduation of

Spring, 2018. He is currently serving as the Family Minister Intern at Elmont Baptist Church,

where he works with students from Pre K through the 12th grade. His passion for students

stems from his own personal experience as a teenager and the influence that a student

minister has had in his life, one that led to his salvation and baptism. In his free time,

DeeJay enjoys playing basketball, giving music lessons, and posting Worship Wednesday

videos with his wife on social media.

Cindy Stephens has a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Spanish, a Master’s Degree in

secondary education, and a minor in English as a second language. She has experience

teaching all levels of students from the very young to college level. For over 25 years,

she and her husband, J., have homeschooled their 9 children with 7 graduating from

Stephens Christian Academy. Her passions are relationships and learning; she loves to see the

light bulb of understanding switch on when a student finally understands a concept clearly.
